If you live in Sydney and you decide to go to the tip yourself instead of hiring a Skip bin, you are required to pay tip fees!
Here is a list of item costs you’ll expect to receive at the tip.
Recycling is Free of charge.
Mixed waste - $390 per tonne with a minimum charge of 100-120KG ($30)
Clean fill - $220 per tonne with a minimum charge of 350KG ($70)
Asbestos - $760 per tonne with a minimum charge of 60KG ($45)
Mattresses - $900 per tonne with a minimum charge of 60KG ($36)
Car tyres - $600 per tonne with a minimum charge of 20KG ($20)
Refrigerators, Air conditioners, Freezers - $25 per unit
Bottles, containers, cans etc - $250 per tonne, minimum charge of $25.
Vegetation - $237 per tonne with a minimum charge of 140KG ($35)
Oversized vegetation - $360 per tonne with a minimum charge of 100KG ($36)
Concrete (less than 500mm) - $22 per tonne with a minimum charge of 1 tonne
Oversized concrete - $28 per tonne with a minimum charge of 1 tonne
Concrete & brick - $28 per tonne with a minimum charge of 1 tonne
Asphalt - $40 per tonne with a minimum charge of 1 tonne
Roof tiles - $22 per tonne with a minimum charge of 1 tonne
Transporting your rubbish to the tip yourself is an option, however this is highly inconvenient. This might not be possible if you have bulky items or a large amount of rubbish, especially if your vehicle is a regular household size. As shown above, rubbish removal fees in Sydney run fairly high. Going to the dump could end up costing you more than a private collector – and without the convenience of pick-up.
